Just the other day, I borrowed a book from my friend Boyd. I gave it back to him with thanks at the beginning of class, and was once again book-less. Halfway through, when the professor (because we be in college yo) asked us to turn to a certain page, I could only look down at my paper and eagerly await to write down whatever she said. But, just then, I saw out of the corner of my eye a copy of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight being handed to me (passive voice?). It turns out that Boyd had gone ahead and purchased another copy of it while I was borrowing his. So he let me borrow the book which is awesome because now I don't have to spend money I don't have on a book, and it was really nice of him.
After class I went outside and smoked a cigarette. A kid came up to me and asked if I had a light. I did, and I remembered that I actually had one inside of my bag. So I handed it to him and told him to keep it. That's why I thought of it like paying it forward. I would have said that so that it would be the title of the movie instead of a verbal phrase but my hands are cold, and I'm too lazy to do the italics, and it's funnier this way because I'm explaining something that doesn't matter a whole lot. Anyway, his name was Cameron, and he had just "bombed" a bio test because he had been in jail for something like a bunch of hours. His cell mate was in there for armed heroin distribution. I thought that was really funny, and told Cameron that at least he knew now that he never wanted to go to jail again.
I have really great dreams sometimes, but I also have terrible nightmares as well. Last night (or this morning, however you look at it), I had a dream that a bunch of firefighters were in a very unstable building and it collapsed. I was some sort of spectator / volunteer and was there to witness it. I remember the sergeant or chief crying out and we rushed to go find them. We found one, crushed under a huge slab of concrete and debris. When we lifted it up, I couldn't even recognize a human being. Perhaps, it wasn't one. Right before I woke up, I was rushing to another unstable house with a bunch of people in it, yelling at them, thinking "It's going to happen again. Just like in my dream."
